What are your seats covers made of? - I use only 100% grade A cowhide for most of my seats. I use 6-8 oz. leather for my tops and 3-5 oz. leather for the sides of the seat. The only place I don't use cowhide is when someone needs a seat finished with an exotic leather.

What is involved and colors. - I need a seat pan and to talk to you about the design, and how you would like the seat shaped. Any kind of pan is fine. Aluminum, steel, fiberglass, plastic, carbon fiber, or a poly pan will work. I will draw a design up based on our conversation and email the pics to you. Once we have found a design you like I can start the seat. Colors other than black may be different as shown on the website. Different hides, even from the same tannery, dye differently after tooling and forming. This is veg tanned leather that will change color over time also. On the hand tooled seats I'm using saddle leather that is much different than standard UV protected upholstery leather. Colors are subjective and I will not re-do a seat based on "well It looked different on the internet, or in the magazine, etc." Thanks for your understanding.

How long does it take? - I can give you turn around time once I know everything that is going to be done to the seat. Give me a call and I can give you my current turn around.

How do you ship? - I like to use USPS priority insured shipping. I will ship UPS, Fed Ex, etc. at your request.

Is it all hand made? - All of my seats are 100% done by hand. All the sewing, lacing, dyeing, tooling, etc. I do all the work personally.

What do you use for foam?- I use either 135# compression foam or neoprene depending on the seat. No shredded carpet foam. I think it's garbage and doesn't belong on a motorcycle seat.

How will the bottom be finished?- The bottom of the pan is as important as the top. I glue the leather to the pan with high strength glue, then I rivet the cover to the pan. Once that is finished I cover the bottom of the pan with 3/16" thick fireproof industrial pad felt. This gives the bottom a nice finished look and protects the paint from the rivets that help hold the cover on. Springer seat bottoms will be left bare, covered with felt, or leather at your request.

How much is a seat? - All my work is one off work. I need to speak to you about exactly what you need to give a accurate price. I'm not the cheapest out there and I'm not the most expensive. I'm fair with my prices with the amount of work involved in making your seat. I will not sacrifice quality to lower my prices. Remember good work isn't cheap and cheap work isn't good. I require a 50% deposit to start work on your seat and the balance before shipping. I'm a leather worker not a bill collector. I'm sorry but the only part of my job that I hate is chasing money. That 1 in a 100 person that doesn't want to pay on time has made this necessary. Thanks for your understanding.

Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions at all.

Thank You,

Duane Ballard
